Deborah Ashe
|
| |
Deborah Ashe is not only an
artist, but a singer and
songwriter who is focused on R &
B and Blues. Ms. Deborah
currently works closely with the
Pasadena Playhouse and Campashe
Music. Ms. Deborah was half of a
songwriting team in 1975 and
relocated to Los Angeles to
establish her career. Ms.
Deborah’s songwriting has caught
the ear of Chaka Khan, Jennifer
Holliday and Carmen Lundy, all
of whom have recorded her work.
Two of the songs that Campagna
and Ash wrote together after
heading west were recorded by
Chaka Khan in the early ‘80’s
“Father He Said” and “Nothing’s
Gonna Take you away”. In 1979,
their song “Shaking Me Up” was
recorded by British soul-disco
singer Maxine Nightingale who is
best remembered for her 1975 hit
“Right Back Where We Started
from”.
Ms. Deborah has been singing for
over 20 years. She has performed
on stage with many of the
greats: Linda Hopkins, Joe
Cocker, Bonnie Raitt to name a
few. LA performances include:
The Playboy Family Jazz Festival
in Old Town Pasadena, The
Luckman Theatre, Lunaria, BB
King’s, etc.
As for her artwork, she is a
very spiritual person,
influenced by the world around
her. The subjects of her
paintings can be as varied as a
spiritual guide or musical
performer, or as common as an
everyday object, such as a
flower or a tree. The world is
her canvas, and her eyes catch
the varied subjects and create a
beautiful rendition on canvas
through her brush and touch. Ms.
Deborah also has taken on a new
adventure in teaching art for
Seniors Class.
