During the holiday season, we reflect on the passing year and make plans for a happy and prosperous new year...”New Beginnings.” NoHo Gallery LA celebrates the holiday season by exhibiting the work of artists who have decided to dedicate their lives full time to their art...to create a New Beginning. Featured fine metal artist Jason Mernick’s full-time dedication to his art and his unique pieces and process is the perfect example of NoHo Gallery LA's mission: to exhibit work of talented artists of all mediums, and to offer art for everyone’s taste and budget. Please join us in celebrating a passing year and a year filled with “New Beginnings.”

Jason Mernick has been sculpting metal in California for several years. His dedication to the art has given him the opportunity to immerse himself full time in creating metal sculptures in many different themes. Jason’s work, including commissions, ranges from small wall hangings to monumental-sized outdoor sculptures.

Due to the nature of the equipment used in the creation of his art he is an "extreme artist." He uses some of the same tools used in the building of offshore oil rigs and high rise buildings. Fire, sparks and noise are a huge part of the creation process. All of his work is unique (one of a kind) and created by hand. Most pieces can be used in interior, as well as exterior spaces.

"I like to work everything extremely hot with a torch. I like the element of danger associated with making my art. If I am not paying complete attention while I am creating my art I might get hurt. In my opinion, my is work is the art of danger," states Jason.

"Jason is our featured artist because his impressive body of works caters to all tastes, design needs and budgets. His process and pieces are unique and have allowed him to follow his passion of creating one-of-a-kind works of art on a full-time basis," says Daniel DeBevoise.

Jason works primarily with stainless steel, copper and aluminum. Basically, he uses torches to cut and color the metal. All of the bending is done by hand. He uses fire the way other artists use paint. That is, he paints with heat. As far as we know, he is the only “Torch Painter” in the world.

His studio is located in the rural suburbs of Los Angeles. Due to this environment, his art reflects many influences from nature. The designs evolve organically, and are revealed to him during the creative process.
