Featured Artist

  Francesco Modigo

Francesco Modigo was born in Trieste, Italy in June 1948. He began painting in 1992 as a self-taught artist. He worked as a maritime and commodity broker for 15 years living between Milano and New York where he settled in 1985. After 1999, Francesco had the pleasure of living in Bali and New York for many years. He currently resides in Los Angeles, California.

Francesco has received several positive reviews through the years including an award of appreciation for his art work from the Dade County of Florida. In 1995 he prepared the decorative setting for the exhibition of the "Design of the Italian shoe" in New York, San Francisco and Orlando.

Francesco's style is reminiscent of Modigliani with hints of Miro. Through his numerous international exhibits, he is now on many collectors' lists of Up-Coming Artists.

Guest Artist

  Sue Matthews

Susan Matthews is a painter and percussionist who lives and works in Oakland, California.  She has a BFA from The University of California at Berkeley, and an MFA from San Francisco State University.  Her current paintings are based on travel experiences in the folkloric communities of Cuba and Niger.  She studied percussion extensively in Cuba between 1995 and 2002, and has a large body of work on the subject of traditional music and dance in Havana, Matanzas, and Santiago de Cuba.  In the summer of 2004 she spent three weeks in a small village near Maradi, Niger, with the Hausa and Fulani people.  Her newest paintings are formal, renaissance style portraits of traditional people from villages in the Sahel, just south the Sahara.
