The Gallery Curator & Director
Daniel Coronado DeBevoise
was born and raised in
South America
(Colombia, Ecuador and Peru) as an embassy
child and spent his formative
years in Rome, Italy. You will see this international
influence in his photographs.
After many years abroad, Daniel returned to the U.S.A. to
enlist in the U.S. Air Force. After receiving an Honorable
Discharge, he attended Columbia University, graduating in
communications arts. He then went to USC Graduate Film
School concentrating on photographic applications in film.
After his studies, Daniel went back to his roots and became
a special features photographer for Vistazo, the
Ecuadorian equivalent of Life Magazine. He focused
on native Ecuadorian life and arts as well as outdoor
landscapes for travel features on Ecuador’s natural
splendors.
He returned to the
U.S.,
becoming a staff photographer for the
New York City’s
Department of Cultural Affairs, photographing museum
exhibits, openings & receptions for the media for
internationally renowned artists at major New York City
museums.
Daniel was offered a coveted photographer position for the
Associated Press, UPI & ANSA in Rome, Italy where he
shot events such as museum exhibits, fashion shows, Roman
antiquity, urban landscapes for special features on travel
and tourism, Pope John Paul II and Vatican events. His work
with the international news agencies caught the eye of
D’Agostini di Novarra, the Italian equivalent of
encyclopedia Britannica, where he became their commercial
photographer.
The NoHo Arts District:
NoHo is L.A.’s
theatre and arts community, for the artist as well as the
arts lover.
In
1992,
the City of Los Angeles created the NoHo Arts District in
North Hollywood to promote the natural concentration of
artists and to create an economic engine fueled by the
arts. Already well known for its diverse theatre and arts
venues and unique cultural offerings, the NoHo Arts District
is gaining momentum as one of the most noted and
identifiable cultural tourism destinations in California.
The NoHo Arts District is home to more than 20 theatres,
diverse art galleries, public art, professional dance
studios that create “the moves” we see on TV and in film,
the largest concentration of music recording venues west of
the Mississippi, annual festivals, international dining
options and a myriad of clothing and specialty shops.
Lankershim Arts Center:
The gallery
is
located at the Lankershim Art Center - 5108 Lankershim
Boulevard in the heart of the NoHo Arts District. The
Lankershim Arts Center was built in 1939 and is a cultural
historic landmark. The center is also home to the
award-winning
Road Theatre Company making it a true center
for the arts.
