SIA ARYAI

Born in Iran, Sia secretly sketched female figures as a child from smuggled foreign magazines. Emerging from a stringent background of Iranian influence, in which depictions of bathing-suit clad women were not customary, Sia freely portrays images of women to celebrate their beauty and mystique. Uniting “a Zen-like simplicity with just the right touch of romantic mystery,” Sia’s images speak to both local and international acclaim. As rumblings of an Islamic Revolution increased in the mid 70s, Sia fled the Ayatollah regime to England where he received his education. Later, he ventured to the United States and discovered his passion for photography.

As an international Art & Commercial Advertising photographer, Sia emphasizes sensual human forms, bodies within close proximities, and uncovered skin to transform print ads into art. Within LA’s creative artists’ circle, Sia is regularly acknowledged as an artistic leader as he pioneers a romantic combination of images reminiscent of and inspired by the Renaissance, the Impressionist Movement and 40’s film noir. By integrating and expanding past notions, Sia’s photography is an artistic style for the new century.

One of Sia’s trademark techniques brings a singular feature of the subject area into a sharp focus while leaving the remainder in a “romantic glow.” Sia’s photography has been featured in The Pacific Design Center’s 101 New Blood show for two consecutive years. His photos have been exhibited at the P.L.A.N. show sponsored by the Los Angeles County Museum of Arts as well as overseas at the National Art Fair of Asia (Seoul, Korea). Sia is also credited with producing artistic product renderings for such major companies as Nike, Kraft and Adidas. His images have also appeared as key set decoration in several recent studio motion pictures, including “Laurel Canyon.”
