Daniel Debevoise is the Curator
of NoHo Gallery LA, a spacious
and inspiring art gallery housed
in an historical Art Deco
building in the heart of the
NoHo Arts District.
Daniel has experience working
with curators in the New York
City’s Museum network and
private galleries in Italy and
South America. He was born and
raised in Colombia, Ecuador &
Peru, the son of a U.S.
Diplomat. Daniel then spent his
formative years in Rome, Italy.
You will see this international
influence in his photographs.
After many years abroad, Daniel
returned to the U.S.A. where he
attended Columbia University,
graduating in the field of the
Arts. He then went to USC
Graduate Film School
concentrating on documentary
filmmaking.
After his studies, Daniel went
back to his roots, becoming a
special features photojournalist
for Vistazo, the Ecuadorian
equivalent of Life Magazine,
then returned to the U.S.,
becoming a staff photographer
for the New York City’s
Department of Cultural Affairs,
photographing museum exhibits,
openings & receptions for the
media, featuring internationally
renowned artists at major New
York City museums.
Daniel then freelanced for the
Associated Press, UPI & ANSA in
Rome, Italy where he shot events
such as museum exhibits, fashion
shows, Roman antiquity, urban
landscapes for special features
on travel and tourism, Pope John
Paul II and Vatican events. His
work with the international news
agencies caught the eye of
D’Agostini di Novarra, the
Italian equivalent of
encyclopedia Britannica, where
he became their commercial
photographer.
Daniel has set up his U.S.
studio in NoHo. He has
photographed receptions, events
and installations for El Portal
Theatre, local festivals and has
done several product shots,
movie openings and CD covers. He
was the official photographer
for the NoHo Arts Festival 2004.
He is also a Special Contributor
to NoHoArtsDistrict.Com. He is
currently concentrating on
developing his art through his
photography.
